In 2004, Rattler was tested in draught format throughout 16 of St. Austell brewery's outlets. The feedback we got from the customers was it was fantastic - unique, appley and easy to drink...! the feedback we got from the tenants was that it was too strong!! Admittedly it was 6.5%! We therefore re-branded and re-designed the cider, so as the characteristics remained the same, but the cider became slightly weaker - a compromise at 6%. In 2005, locals and tourists alike seemed to love it, and with the general public becoming more inclined to try ciders, sales boomed!
In 2006, thanks to an extremely hot summer, sales continued to rise at an alarming rate! And we were worried whether we would be able to keep up demand in future years! Before the 2006 pressing season, we invested in doubling our capacity, and pressed more apples than ever before! Just so you can picture how much extra Rattler we made, here you go...!
...we've done our bit, now it's your turn (get drinking....responsibly!)
